I have been a councillor since 2015. It is a real privilege to work alongside so many people in the local community who share my drive and determination to improve the area in which they live and work. One of my key objectives has been to support the community campaign for the installation of lifts at Pokesdown Station and to make sure that SWR deliver on their franchise commitment. The fight continues with accessibility for ALL being the end goal. In addition I am determined to see other much needed improvements at the station and will continue to work with all agency partners including our MP to make sure that this happens.

Another priority of mine since being elected has been to support the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group in the preparation of the Boscombe & Pokesdown Neighbourhood Plan. This has now been successfully voted on in a referendum and gives local people a much greater say on the types of development that they would like to see in Boscombe and Pokesdown.

Since 2009 I have held a couple of posts on the committee of the Pokesdown Community Forum and am currently vice-treasurer. It’s a honour to sit on a committee with people who work tirelessly to improve the local area and are always on the front foot when it comes to fighting damaging and controversial planning applications.

I have recently been made Shadow Spokesperson for Equality and Diversity and am very much looking forward to meeting senior officers in the coming weeks and months to ensure that the Council is meeting all its obligations in this area.
